The multiple public tragedies that have occurred in the past few years throughout the U.S. have motivated the Hartford Consensus to bring together leaders from law enforcement, the federal government, and the medical community. Influential leaders in these communities are coming together to improve survival rates from manmade or natural mass casualty events. This inspired us to take part in the cause.
"Stop the Bleed" is a nationally recognized program designed to teach non-medical people, the everyday members of the community, the importance of stopping hemorrhage. In addition, it teaches the skills necessary to control and if possible, stop bleeding in people with traumatic injuries.
The goal of this training is to provide an immediate response to bleeding when trained responders or a first aid kit is not available. There are numerous reasons why everyone at any organization should make a priority to learn this type of training: mass shootings, work injuries, home injuries, bombings, natural mass casualty events, motor vehicle accidents, etc.
Listen to Doug Toepfer, FHN Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, talk about the program on the Dial-a-Doc radio show.
This 2-hour course is $25.00 which includes the Stop the Bleed kit.
There are no classes currently scheduled, please check back for future class dates or contact COIL at coil@fhn.org with any questions.
