Radiology

Radiologists use multiple types of diagnostic tests to help diagnose a patient. These tests use one of or a combination of the following; radiation, radioactive isotopes, magnetic resonance, sound waves (ultrasound), IV contrast and/or oral or rectal contrast.

FHN offers all of the major imaging modalities and exams. We offer CT scanning on a 64-slice CT scanner; we have direct digital x-ray, state-of-the-art ultrasound, and MRI and cath lab equipment. Digital mammography and bone densitometry are offered through the FHN Women's Diagnostic Center inside FHN Memorial Hospital. We also perform nuclear medicine examinations and PET scans.

FHN offers imaging exams performed by registered technologists, many of whom have advanced certifications. These exams are interpreted by board-certified radiologists who are on-site at FHN seven days a week. These technologists and radiologists work closely with all areas within FHN and referring physicians to provide a high level of care for our patients.
