Why Give to FHN?

Everyone deserves respect, dignity, compassion, effective healthcare, and to live well. This is what guides us to our strong dedication of supporting the community beyond healthcare. We're committed to raising awareness and support to help improve the well-being of our communities.

Together, we can continue to provide our communities with the best possible healthcare services and help you and your family become and stay healthy.

A gift to the FHN Foundation is:

  • an investment in the future of innovative and compassionate healthcare
  • support to make a powerful difference in the communities where you live and work
  • a legacy/tribute to an individual, family, or business in the community
  • tax-deductible to the extent specified by state and federal tax codes

FHN General Fund:

We're committed to the health and well-being of the people of northwest Illinois and southern Wisconsin. We have services nearby for all ages, so every member of your family can receive caring, personal, professional healthcare.

v Give Now

An average of 1,400 people visit FHN each day for their healthcare needs (that's more than 525,000 patient visits per year). We're proud to be the only healthcare provider in our service area that offers affiliations with all three major hospitals in Rockford, Illinois.

Grateful Giving

Every day, our dedicated team delivers compassionate care and outstanding services. Those who have used our services understand the importance of the physician, the compassion of the nurse, and the help of a caring staff member or volunteer.

Give Now Give Now

Our amazing team is made up of highly trained, skilled, and experienced people. By taking a moment to recognize their efforts, you let them know how much they are appreciated.

By making a tax-deductible contribution of $15, $50, $100 or more, you honor the person who has played a significant role in the care of those in need.

Would you consider taking this opportunity to support our wonderful caregivers?

Your generosity also will help ensure our patients continue to have access to comprehensive, state-of-the-art healthcare resources. Thank you for your consideration!

The Leonard C. Ferguson Cancer Center at FHN Memorial Hospital

When it comes to cancer care, healthcare organizations in bigger cities aren't necessarily better. Our Cancer Center's chemotherapy wing provides comfortable, private space for patients as they undergo treatment.

Just outside, the Leonard and Mildred Ferguson Healing Garden provides patients with a natural, beautiful, and peaceful setting that enhances treatment and aids in the healing process.

Give Now Give Now

Our Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) machine offers tremendous accuracy, which enables us to treat the affected area with a higher dose of radiation and leave surrounding tissue undamaged. Our 4-D CT scanner provides images in 3-D and also accounts for a patient's breathing and movement during treatment. These additions to our Cancer Center provide convenience and peace of mind to our patients, as they no longer need to visit the hospital for detailed planning of their treatment. Every step of treatment is done in-house at the Cancer Center.

Just being close to home for cancer care can also help. Patients don't have to endure long drives when they're not feeling well, and friends and family are more able to offer transportation and moral support.

FHN Hospice

Hospice helps those with terminal conditions live life to the fullest as long as possible. It gives options to patients who choose to spend their remaining time surrounded and supported by family, friends, and compassionate professionals who provide specialized treatment and ongoing care.

Here are a few hospice facts:

Hospice care emphasizes comfort and includes social, emotional, physical, and spiritual support for patients and their families.

All FHN Hospice care is provided under a physician's supervision and utilizes nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers.

Hospice care focuses on the person – not his or her disease.

Hospice services are not just for people whose death is imminent. The goal is to provide a comfortable and normal life for as long as possible whether it be for weeks, months, or longer.

People can transfer into and out of hospice as their situations change.

FHN Hospice services are affordable. They are covered 100% by Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans benefits, and most health insurance providers.

Emergency Room Campaign

EMERGENCY! It's a word that generates energy and demands attention. But for the FHN Foundation, it also symbolizes opportunity, progress, and growth.

Give Now Give Now

The planned Emergency Department/Emergency Room expansion and renovation will improve FHN's emergency department – the one part of the hospital nearly everyone visits. It never closes and the staff is always there to handle everything from scrapes and sprains to heart attacks and strokes.

The update also will allow for more patient visits, provide single-patient rooms throughout the ER for increased privacy, and equip the ER for special-needs patients. These improvements will allow FHN Memorial Hospital's ER to continue leading the way in emergency care for northwest Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

FHN Family Counseling Center

Our mission is to improve and provide superior, quality healthcare services. Whether you or a family member needs counseling for behavioral health, individual therapy, family/marital/couples therapy, crisis services, substance abuse prevention, or more, we are here to help.

FHN's popular Beyond Words Pet Therapy Program is brought to you by the FHN Family Counseling Center.

In 2006, we formed a partnership with the Stephenson County Health Department to provide healthcare services for the uninsured, underinsured, and medically-indigent at the FHN Community Healthcare Center, inside the Health Department Building in Freeport.

Mildred F. Ferguson Scholarship Fund

Mildred Ferguson served as a nurse in World War I. She was a woman of action who was generous with her time and her resources. For years, she was a volunteer at Freeport Memorial Hospital and gave much time to children through her activities with the Amity Society.

Give Now Give Now

It's because of her love for nursing, our community, and FHN that Mildred's daughter, Nancy F. Seeley, established the Mildred F. Ferguson Nursing Scholarship endowment fund.

The Mildred F. Ferguson Nursing Scholarship assists with tuition, books and fees, and also covers any income loss due to pursuing a degree.

All scholarship recipients are required to work at one of more than 15 FHN locations after attaining their degree to share their skills with our patients and staff.
