Children First

An Education Program for Divorcing Parents

As of July 1, 2006, each circuit or county court in Illinois mandated divorcing parents to participate in a parenting education program consisting of at least four hours of information, covering the subjects of visitation, custody and their impact on children.

To meet this mandate, FHN Family Counseling Center offers Children First. This four-hour group meets the requirements of Parenting Education Requirement of Rule 924.

Children First is modeled on the research-based program "Children in the Middle." This skills-based divorcing parent program will help children and parents deal with the effects and impact of divorce.

There are no Children First classes currently scheduled. Please contact FHN Family Counseling Center at 815-599-7300 for more information.

Cost: Each four-hour parenting session costs $50 per person and is broken into 2 two-hour discussion, educational and video segments with a 15-minute break in between.
