April is Drug and Alcohol Awareness Month

Parents of Jo Daviess County students in grades 7 - 12, be part of our community effort to spread awareness about underage drinking! Complete this short survey to help us share good information with you.

During Alcohol Awareness Month each April, the nation takes note of the progress in reducing rates of underage drinking and celebrate the efforts of communities across the country who are working together to prevent underage alcohol use. While we are all practicing social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, now is a great time to talk to your kids!

For more information about Alcohol Awareness Month or to educate yourself on how to talk to your student visit www.alcohol.org or www.samhsa.gov.

Community Video Wins $750 for River Ridge Schools

Explore JDC Drug and Alcohol Free, a short, creative video suggesting fun, alcohol- and drug-free things to do during prom and graduation season, is the winner of this year's Jo Daviess County Juvenile Justice Council (JDCJJ) Video Contest. The video won a $750 JDCJJ donation to River Ridge High Schools.

"We asked parents and community members to make a short video to show their support in keeping our youth safe and alcohol-free this spring," said FHN Partnerships for Success Coordinator Joanne Muzzey. "Community and parent involvement is important in helping teens avoid drugs and alcohol this season – and a donation for post-prom will help, too!"
