Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths, but with screening, it is highly preventable. In observation of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, learn more about preventing, screening – and beating! – colon cancer at a special FHN open house March 28.

Join providers and staff of the FHN Gastrointestinal (GI) Lab at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport from 4 – 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 to learn about our capabilities and how we can help find colorectal cancer while it's still highly treatable.

Tours of FHN's high-tech GI lab will be available, as well as demonstrations about why there's no need to dread a colonoscopy. Visitors will also be able to walk through a giant colon to see what the inside of this important internal organ looks like, including how polyps and other potential problems appear. Attendees will receive handouts including tips on how to prevent cancer, delicious recipes to incorporate fiber into your family's diet, and more.

This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required; simply enter FHN Memorial Hospital through the east (atrium) entrance and follow the signs to the GI Lab.
