Pain Management

Surgery, procedure, or other treatment designed to reduce pain and help the patient achieve a reasonable quality of life and ability to function.

FHN offers patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) for adults. Patient-controlled Analgesia is a way to get pain medicine without the need for repeated injections. A PCA is a machine set up by caregivers. The pump lets the patient have some control over pain medicine delivery. It can help decrease acute (short-term) pain, such as after surgery or an accident. Chronic (long-term) pain, such as cancer pain, may also be treated with a PCA.
