10/20/2012, 9 a.m. 1 p.m.
The public is invited to explore the world of respiratory care, with information on asthma, COPD, sleep apnea, smoking cessation and more at a free health fair Saturday, Oct. 20 in the lower-level cafeteria and private dining rooms at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Respiratory care experts will be on hand to talk about subjects ranging from asthma, sleep apnea and COPD to pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy, alpha trypsin deficiency and smoking cessation. Attendees will have the chance to have their lung function measured, see what it's like to use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea and watch and practice intubation of a dummy. Kids are welcome to test their skills at tricycle races, and there will be a drawing for prizes.
