New Class Teaches Healthy Eating Skills to Kids Ages 7 - 12

Eating a healthy diet is one of the best ways to stay fit and healthy. Sodexo and FHN are partnering to offer a kids' version of the popular Create Your Weight program this fall. Create Your Weight for Kids was developed and is taught by registered dietitians. The program is designed for children ages 7 – 12 to attend with an adult. Topics to be covered include:

  • Portions and servings
  • Making good choices when you're dining out
  • Snacking
  • Importance of physical activity
  • Family involvement in healthy behaviors
  • Building self-esteem and confidence
  • Knowing the difference between eating when you're hungry vs. other reasons

The 10-week class will be held on Mondays from 5 – 5:45 p.m. beginning Sept. 10 at FHN Memorial Hospital. The registration fee of $125 covers instruction and materials for one child and one adult, including healthy snacks and Nutribucks to buy prizes.
