The parking lot behind FHN Family Counseling Center in Freeport will be the site of the organization’s first "Operation Give Back" Blacktop Garage Sale from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, June 29-30. The FCC is located at 421 W. Exchange Street in Freeport.
Members of the FCC’s Community Re-entry Psychosocial Rehabilitation Group have been collecting and coordinating donations of gently used items at drop-off zones throughout FHN in preparation for the sale, which will benefit the organization’s Café Jane and the Freeport Area Church Cooperative. A number of area businesses, including Pizza Hut, The Loose Screw, Josh’s Saloon, 4 Seasons Bowling Alley, Quiznos and Sonic, have donated baskets for the event.
"This is an opportunity to keep the gift of giving circulating throughout our community," said organizer Ashley Hartje, a counselor at FHN Family Counseling Center. "We’re proud to be able to raise funds not only for our organization but to help FACC, as well."
