M*A*S*H - Make a Strike Help — Bowl for Kids' Sake!

Each year, people in our community come together to have fun and raise money to support FHN Big Brothers Big Sisters. Fifth Third Bank Bowl for Kids' Sake is the perfect way to make an impact on our community.

This is a great opportunity for friends, families or co-workers to form a team (individuals are welcome too) and get together for some fun!

"When you sign up, each bowler should raise at least $50 in pledges to bowl at the event. Shoe rental, one pizza and one pitcher of soda per lane is included. Anyone who raises $100 or more is eligible for an event t-shirt. At all three events, we'll have a variety of door prizes for participants to win during the evening," says FHN Foundation Executive Director Tonya Meyer. "Large traveling trophies are awarded for teams with Most Spirit and Highest Score. Team spirit includes all of the following: fundraising efforts, best dressed, loudest cheering, and sportsmanship. This year's theme is "M*A*S*H - Make a Strike Help."

FHN BBBS Program video - former 'little' Jason Lamm shares his experience..

Money raised from Fifth Third Bank Bowl For Kids' Sake supports FHN's Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Illinois activities in Stephenson and JoDaviess counties. BBBS is a volunteer-based organization where adults ("Bigs") and children ("Littles") are carefully paired in hopes of developing a positive relationship that will have a lasting effect on kids. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Illinois is a program of the United Way of Northwest Illinois.

"Having a caring adult in their lives makes a big difference for children in the BBBS program," says Beth Johnson, a community educator at FHN Family Counseling Center and a case manager for BBBS. "The years between 10 and 16 are extremely important for all children - they are making some of their own decisions and maturing into the grown-ups they want to be. Having an adult 'on their side' at this crucial point in life can help kids make good decisions like staying away from drugs, working hard in school and avoiding violence."
