You don't have to be a pro-athlete to get surgery from a pro.

Bailey Englund is a determined competitor on the court. A multi-sport athlete, she played basketball and volleyball at Pecatonica High School. As a result, Bailey endured knee injuries that required the same ACL reconstructive surgery received by professional athletes Derrick Rose and Adrian Peterson. Bailey had hers at FHN.

Bailey chose FHN's Dr. John Gluscic to help restore her to 'playing condition.' Explains Bailey, "I didn't want to wait, and when I found out Dr. Gluscic was experienced in the same kind of surgery that Derrick Rose from the Bulls and Adrian Peterson from the Vikings had, it gave me confidence. I just wanted to get it over with and get back on the court."

An enthusiastic advocate of the procedure, Dr. Glusic uses the patient's own tissue for the graft and utilizes a bone-tendon-bone method of reconstruction. "Other options may work, but failure rates are higher and recovery takes longer. Considering my commitment to athletic performance and rehabilitative excellence and recovery, no other technique really makes sense. If you have access to a surgeon with the training to do this procedure, this is – without a doubt – the best option."

Bailey agrees. "I've had friends who had to have their surgeries re-done. I am so thankful that's not me. Now that I am in college, I can hike the hills of Augustana and play whatever sport I wish without fear. I am happy I made the right choice...FHN."
